After twenty-five
years as a nationally recognized graphic designer, illustrator and portrait
artist, Jane Barton’s paintings pay tribute to the best designer
of them all -- Nature -- with images of vast landscapes and intimate
still lifes. Originally from Chicago, where she studied at the American Academy
of Art, Jane holds a B.A. from Boston University and an M.A. in Illustration
from Syracuse University. She is the recipient of many national design awards
and is featured in Print’s Best Logos and Symbols.
Jane works both en plein air and in her Tucson studio, incorporating
direct observation and imagination in her work. “I feel fortunate to live in
the
Sonoran Desert, where the subject matter is dramatic and varied.” Ms. Barton
has enjoyed painting in many other reas of the United States and recently returned
from a painting trip to the south
of France. Wherever she sets up her easel, Jane’s paintings reflect the quiet,
intimate moments as well as the vast space of the West and the world, to be preserved
in time and enjoyed by all.
Jane Barton is an
Artist Member of Tucson Plein Air Painters Society and an Associate Member of Oil Painters of
America.
