Mark
has developed his approach and style of painting by studying his motifs first
hand. Painting freely and rapidly allows Mark to express his feelings while
simultaneously capturing the subtle changes and nuances of nature. The magic
of Impressionism lies in its power to suggest through selection of color and
form, aspects of vision which we experience more intensely in paintings than
we do when we look directly at nature. Mark travels throughout the world interpreting
a broad variety of subjects. He credits the American Impressionists and the
California School of Plein-air Artists as his most significant influences.
Mark studied life drawing, oil painting and watercolor painting at the University
of Texas in
Austin, the University of Houston and the Scottsdale Artists School.
