Jerome Katz began his interest
in art as a teenager with an Argoflex camera, shooting street scenes and people.
He continued his studies in art at Brooklyn College.
Turned on by frequent
visits to the Metropolitan Museum, as well as many of the other art collections
in New York City, he began attending the Art Students League in Manhatten.
He studied
mainly with Harvey Dinnerstein and David Leffel. He spent many happy years at
the League both as a student and as an assistant to his instructors, winning
many juried shows along the way.
He
currently lives in Tucson Arizona with his wife, and has been offering oil
painting courses
through Pima Community College, sharing his love of art and knowledge
of painting with others.
“If
I’m successful, my painting has a life of its own, with a poetry others can
understand.”
