What I try to create in my paintings is
a sense of mystery. To me, mystery is intriguing and stimulates the imagination,
something
which is needed in our age of passive entertainment. I like to pun and
poke fun at American culture and our perceptions of life in it. For people
who care enough to take the time, the meaning of my paintings unfolds
over time and with reflection, as the visual symbols reappear in different
contexts. I try, however, to have something for everyone to relate to,
enjoy and be provoked by in a single painting; from the novice or inexperienced
viewer to the most educated. My paintings are meant to be enjoyed on
many levels and to bring to the viewer a heightened sense of the vastness
and beauty of the universe.
